Al Lathif Islamic School Students' Angklung Performance Captivates Audience at Kokusai Kotoba Gakuin Japan Alumni Reunion

Bandung, Indonesia - On Saturday, January 27, 2024, 39 students from grades 3 to 6 of Al Lathif Islamic School gave a captivating performance of angklung, a traditional Indonesian bamboo musical instrument, at the Kokusai Kotoba Gakuin Japan alumni reunion held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bandung. The event was attended by 160 alumni from the graduating years of 1994 to 2020.

The angklung performance was led by Mr. Iqbal, the art and culture teacher at Al Lathif Islamic School. In his remarks, Mr. Iqbal said that the performance aimed to introduce Indonesian culture, especially the traditional angklung musical instrument, to the alumni of Kokusai Kotoba Gakuin Japan, as well as to foster friendship and cooperation between the two institutions.

The students performed four songs: the classical piece "Swan Lake," the soundtrack of the popular anime "Doraemon," the soundtrack of the video game "Mario Bros," and "Yamko Rambe Yamko." One of the songs that received special attention from the audience was "Doraemon No Uta," which tells the story of the friendship between Nobita and Doraemon, the two main characters of the anime and manga series "Doraemon" that is very popular in Indonesia and Japan. The song was performed beautifully and harmoniously by the students of Al Lathif Islamic School, captivating the audience.

Mr. Dahawanen, S.H., M.H., the Supervisor of the Noor Rakhmah Al Lathif Foundation, who also accompanied the Al Lathif Islamic School delegation, expressed his gratitude to the organizing committee of the Kokusai Kotoba Gakuin Japan alumni reunion for providing the opportunity for the students of Al Lathif Islamic School to perform at the event. He also appreciated the students who had practiced hard and enthusiastically to perform the angklung well. He hoped that the angklung performance could inspire and motivate the students of Al Lathif Islamic School.

The performance of the Al Lathif Islamic School students was a great success. It not only introduced Indonesian culture to the alumni of Kokusai Kotoba Gakuin Japan but also demonstrated the talent and dedication of the students. The event was a valuable opportunity for cultural exchange and friendship between Indonesia and Japan.
