Let's Teach Our Little Ones to Fast During Ramadan!

Hello Parents! The holy month of Ramadan, a month full of blessings and forgiveness, is just around the corner. This can be a golden opportunity to instill good values in our children! One of the ways to do this is by teaching them to fast.

Remember, fasting during Ramadan is not obligatory for children who have not reached puberty. Don't worry, you can still introduce them to the concept of fasting and train them to fast gradually.

How can you do this?

1. Start Small, Gradually, and Make it Fun:

  • For children aged 3-5, introduce them to the concept of fasting through stories, role-playing, and observing how parents fast.
  • Start with fasting for a few hours only, then gradually increase the duration according to the child's ability.
  • Involve children in preparing sahur (pre-dawn meal) and breaking fast together to boost their enthusiasm.

2. Focus on Intention and Self-Restraint:

  • Explain to children that fasting is not just about abstaining from food and drink, but also refraining from bad deeds and words.
  • Teach children to be patient and control their desires.

3. Give Appreciation and Be a Role Model:

  • Appreciate every effort your child makes, not just their success in fasting fully. This will motivate them to continue learning and be enthusiastic about worship.
  • Show enthusiasm and patience in fasting so that children are motivated to follow.

  • Educational Activities: Organizing educational activities about Ramadan and fasting for children, such as storytelling, coloring pictures, or making collages about Ramadan.
  • Breaking Fast Together: Holding a breaking fast together for children and parents to foster togetherness and a spirit of sharing during Ramadan.

Let's make this Ramadan a valuable moment to educate and guide our children to become a generation of faith and noble character.
